Three years after Nahtan took the throne of Herridon, the unpredictable Lord Valin returns with news that the slave trade is still alive and well. Determined to eradicate the trade and rout the last of the church guards running it, Nahtan sends an army south. To distract focus away from the army, he leads a smaller group that includes his young daughter Valry. 

 Nahtan doesn't realize the fallen god Zared has built his own center of power there and has spread his control from the southern villages in the east all the way to Basiyr in the west. Still determined to have his revenge on Nahtan for his defeat at Herridon, Zared discovers Nahtan's own daughter could be the key to securing his freedom again.
